SALDA UAB have been designing and manufacturing top quality ventilation solutions for more than 30 years. In that time they have grown a strong brand presence in the European air handling unit sector, by constantly investing in new production equipment, staff training, and product development.
The SALDA product portfolio is extensive and diverse, including a wide range of fans, residential and commercial ventilation units, modular ventilation units for commercial and industrial spaces, ventilation system fittings, and dust extraction systems.
As official partners for SALDA in Ireland (NI and ROI), Fairhaven are focused primarily on the residential and commercial heat recovery ventilation unit ranges, as summarised below
* S CX models currently only available up to 1500 m3/h – larger models due later in 2025
All Salda units feature high quality fans by European manufacturers, with EC motors and backward curved impellers.
To ensure the quality and reliability of their units, SALDA tests them in a state-of-the-art, accredited laboratory. Each type of unit undergoes a rigorous testing process, including airtightness, acoustic, airflow, efficiency, and cold climate tests. Using only the best components from trusted and leading manufacturers in the European Union, their modern production equipment ensures precision and quality. The casings of the AmberAir ranges exceed the highest leakage requirements (L1, A1), and all units are Eurovent (or Passivhaus) certified, so you can be sure that they will perform in line with the published data.
The Smarty X range by Salda features vertical (wall mounted) and horizontal (ceiling mounted) MVHR units for residential and small commercial applications. With an airflow range from 200 m3/h (55 l/sec) up to 600 m3/h (166 l/sec), these units are ideal for small offices, apartments and meeting rooms.
Units are constructed from a a class A1 airtight casing from EPP with powder coated steel outer panels. Airtightness is tested at the production line to ensuring that no smells from the extracted air will return to the premises. The EPP construction also results in a very lightweight unit, enabling easy handling and installation on site.
Units are supplied as standard with Coarse 65% filters, however optional ePM1 70% (F7) supply air filters are available for efficient filtration of pollens and cther external pollutants.
The units have factory fitted controls based around Salda’s “mini-MCB” control board, and offer a range of optional user & external control methods including the “S-touch” wall controller, “ST-SA touchscreen controller”, internet (accessory required), or via mobile app (accessory required). A timer/programmer is integrated into the unit’s control board for energy-friendly scheduling of operation. External CO2, relative humidity, and presence sensors can be connected for automatic (demand) ventilation control.
Two counterflow plate recuperator options are available; a plastic exchanger which does not transfer moisture (and requires a condensate drain), and an enthalpy (paper membrane) exhanger which transfers moisture from the extracted air to the supply air, avoiding the need for a condensate drain.
Each model has two versions: Smarty ” 1.1″ and Smarty “1.2”. Version 1.1 is equipped with an integrated pre-heater, also has additional inputs for a RH or CO2 sensor connection.
Smarty units use an intelligent algorithm for frost protection, which is activated from -2C. Units without pre-heaters automatically reduce the supply fan speed to allow continuous operation down to as low as -15 deg C outside temperature.
Key Features
The RIS and RIRS ranges by Salda are compact units with high efficiency counterflow (RIS range) and thermal wheel (RIRS range) recuperators. With a wide range of sizes handling from 400 m3/h up to 5500m3/h, these units are suitable for large residential projects and small to medium commercial applications.
RIS EKO units offer low running costs due to the highly efficient (up to 90%) heat recovery , quiet and economical EC fans, effective low-pressure-drop filters and top-level of air tightness.
Integrated frost protection strategies allow full thermal comfort without an additional pre-heater at temperatures down to -5°C. For applications where the units will need to operate below -5, a pre-heater may be specified.
All units are supplied tested and ready to install, with factory fitted automatic controls. Optional external sensors for CO2 and humidity allow automatic (demand based) ventilation control, and the same range of user/remote control options as listed above on the Smarty X units.
The all new AmberAir Compact ranges by Salda have been designed from the ground up to match or exceed the performance levels and feature set of any other compact MVHR currently on the market. With a huge range of options and unit configurations, these units are suitable for practically any application across commercial, industrial and public sectors.
The S CX range features high efficiency counterflow heat exchangers, whilst the SR range uses thermal wheel recuperators. Both are floor standing units, available in horizontal (double deck, end connection) and vertical (top connection) formats. The smallest unit in both ranges has a nominal airflow of 1000 m3/h (277 l/sec). The SR (Thermal wheel) range features 8 unit sizes up to a nominal airflow of 9000 m3/h (2.5 m3/sec) in horizontal format, and up to 5000 m3/h (1.39 m3/sec) in vertical format. The S CX range currently features only 1000 and 1500m3/h units with the larger sizes due for launch later in 2025.
All units are independently certified by Eurovent, so you can trust the quoted figures for performance and efficiency. The unit casing achieves class leading D1 strength, L1 leakage, T2 thermal transmittance and TB2 thermal bridging.
Intelligent design and quality components
The layout of the units is cleverly thought out and incorporates space for a range of integrated heating and cooling options. All the S R models (including vertical connection units) and the S CX horizontal counterflow units have the option of a reversible DX heat/cool coil, a water based heat/cool coil, an electric heater (with one or two different power ratings), or no heating & cooling. The S CX vertical units are available with electric or water heating options only (i.e. no cooling).
Filters are pocket (bag) type as standard, giving superior efficiency and dust loading capacity to minipleat panels. Filter slides feature locking mechanisms to ensure a tight seal (classified F9 for filter bypass leakage). Fans are high quality backward curved plug fans by EBM papst, and are mounted into the unit using SALDA’s proprietary “quick change” spider bracket design that allows the whole fan and impeller to be changed by simply removing two small screws. All electrical connections feature quick release connectors so that fans can be changed without any re-wiring.
Thoughtful design touches are everywhere, from the dual function lift-off hinge/clasps on the access doors, to the spare rotary wheel belt pre-fitted to the wheel.
Restricted plantroom access – no problem!
All units are designed to fit through a standard door size of 890mm. Smaller units are designed as a monobloc (single piece), while larger units are designed to be split into sections on site. All wiring, sensor tubes, etc are factory fitted with quick-release connectors to make unit disassembly as easy as possible.
Fully protected from the elements
Controls are factory fitted within the main unit casing, with an external isolator for safe maintenance. Horizontal units can be mounted outside when fitted with an optional bolt-on roof panel. The roof panel is supplied in sections, powder coated to match the external finish of the unit, and is fixed to the top of the unit on site using pre-fitted threaded inserts, with all fixings and brackets included. The units are constructed from glvanised and powder coatedmild steel with C2 corrosion resistance as standard. For coastal or exposed applications, C4 corrosion rated models are available.
The CXP units are low profile units with counterflow plate recuperators, for suspended mounting above a ceiling (or in an exposed soffit installation). There are 4 unit sizes, with nominal airflow from 1000 m3/h to 3000 m3/h, each size available in either left hand or right hand duct orientation
Standard features
Optional features
Whilst they are designed primarily for suspended mounting above ceilings, CXP units feature a number of clever design touches that allow them to be mounted in two alternative installation arrangements; floor standing (usually externally on a roof), and vertically (on their side) with horizontal duct connections. Additional accessories required.
The factory fitted controls on the Smary and AmberAir ranges are all based around the MCB and “miniMCB” control boards.

User controls
The HRVU can be connected to a choice of external user interfaces
The “S touch” push button wall controller is a simple interface that allows fan speeds (mode presets) and temperature setpoints to be selected. It’s LCD display also shows fault codes, alerting users when the unit requires maintenance, e.g. when filters need changing.
The ST-SA touchscreen controller can be used as a wall controller or as a service tool. Connecting to the unit control board using the same 4-core plug & play cable as the S-touch, this sophisticated yet user friendly controller gives a wealth of detailed information about the status of the unit, and through password protected service menus allows all features and settings of the unit to be adjusted.
