Fairhaven recently supplied and commissioned two Mandik air handling units (AHUs) for the new Drumlins Integrated Primary School building in Ballynahinch, Co. Down. The units, installed by Tag Air Ltd, were supplied complete with full Siemens controls for BMS integration via BACnet.
The larger of the two units, which serves the spacious multi purpose hall, is a fully balanced supply and extract unit with a highly efficient thermal wheel rotary heat exchanger. This state of the art recuperator can recover around 80% of the temperature differential between the extracted air and the fresh air entering the unit. To improve efficiency the recuperator motor is driven via a variable speed inverter drive, allowing rotation speed to be varied automatically according to required levels of recovery. The fans in the unit are of the “plug” type, with backward curved reinforced polymer impellers and 3-phase EC motors.
Both units are controlled by Siemens Climatix controllers, allowing precise control of supply air temperatures and fan speeds. The BMS system, supplied and installed by ATC, can control and monitor all aspects of the Air Handling Unit operation remotely via the optional BACnet interface modules supplied with the controls.
Mandik air handling units are TUV, RLT and Ecovent certified, and fully compliant with the requirements of the EU Ecodesign of Energy Related Products (ErP 2018). For more information, contact us.
